Leadership Burbank’s Class of 2026 has launched New Day Laundry, a mobile laundry initiative that will provide free laundry services to individuals and families facing financial hardship throughout Burbank, according to an announcement from the organization.
The project addresses what organizers describe as a critical gap in community services. Access to clean clothing affects health, confidence, school participation, and job readiness, according to the Leadership Burbank announcement. For residents experiencing financial difficulties, emergencies, or temporary displacement, regular access to laundry services can be limited or unavailable.
New Day Laundry will fund a custom-built mobile laundry trailer equipped with multiple washers and dryers, according to the project details. The Salvation Army will operate the trailer to expand its existing services in Burbank, complementing the organization’s mobile shower program and allowing individuals to access additional wraparound services while washing clothing.
“New Day Laundry reflects our class’s shared commitment to service, integrity, building community, inclusivity, and compassion,” said representatives of Leadership Burbank’s Class of 2026. “By addressing a basic, everyday need, this project supports dignity, stability, and opportunity for individuals and families across Burbank.”
Research and community insights cited by the organization show that access to laundry services ranks among the most limited services available to individuals in need and directly affects employment opportunities and overall well-being. School leaders have shared that access to laundry facilities improves student confidence, attendance, and engagement by fostering equity and a sense of belonging, according to the announcement.
The Class of 2026 aims to improve daily stability for individuals and families while strengthening overall community health through the project, according to organizers. The initiative aligns with Leadership Burbank’s mission to identify, educate, and motivate current and emerging leaders to develop solutions that make Burbank a strong, sustainable, and vibrant community.
Leadership Burbank invites community members to support New Day Laundry through donations and sponsorships, according to the announcement. Sponsorship opportunities include branded marketing exposure through Leadership Burbank’s platforms, logo placement on the mobile laundry trailer, and direct sponsorship of washers, dryers, or essential equipment. Funds raised beyond the build cost will support ongoing operations, maintenance, and supplies to ensure long-term sustainability.
Founded 30 years ago, Leadership Burbank provides educational and motivational programs for current and emerging leaders while engaging its over 600 alumni in civic engagement throughout the city, according to organizational information. The nonprofit’s programs and projects have invested over a million dollars in goods and services throughout Burbank.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law, according to Leadership Burbank. Additional funds raised beyond project goals support scholarships for future Leadership Burbank class members.
Community members can donate to New Day Laundry at leadershipburbank.org/newdaylaundry or contact [email protected] with questions, according to the announcement.
The mobile laundry service represents more than just clean clothes, according to organizers. The project supports dignity, opportunity, health, and stability for individuals and families in need while strengthening the broader Burbank community.
