Florida Woman Arrested After Shooting at Rihanna's LA Home
Ivanna Ortiz, 35, faces attempted murder charges after firing 7-9 rounds at a Beverly Crest home shared by Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their children.
A 35-year-old Florida woman faces attempted murder charges after opening fire on a Beverly Crest home shared by Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and the couple’s three children Sunday afternoon — an attack that left bullet holes in the property’s front gate while the family was inside.
Los Angeles police identified the suspect as Ivanna Ortiz and booked her on $10 million bond. Officers arrested her roughly three miles from the scene during a traffic stop in Sherman Oaks, in the west San Fernando Valley. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
According to the LAPD, Ortiz drove up to the Beverly Crest property around 1:30 p.m. and fired between seven and nine rounds from what police described as an AR-15-style rifle. Video footage from the scene showed what appeared to be multiple bullet holes in the home’s front gate. Investigators were also seen examining an Airstream trailer parked in the driveway.
The LAPD confirmed to NBC4 that Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and all three of their children were home at the time. No injuries were reported.
Beverly Crest sits in the Santa Monica Mountains on LA’s Westside, a residential community well removed from the public-facing parts of the entertainment industry. At least one neighbor said she was inside her home when she heard the shots.
No motive has been publicly established. The LAPD did not release details about what prompted the attack.
Ortiz’s prior record adds context. The Orange County, Florida Corrections Department confirmed she was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence battery in June 2023, followed by a violation of a domestic injunction three months later. On February 23 of this year, Rihanna was mentioned and tagged in a post on what law enforcement identified as Ortiz’s Facebook page. The LAPD has not publicly explained how investigators tied Ortiz to the scene or elaborated on whether that social media activity factored into the investigation.
Representatives for the couple did not respond to requests for comment.
The incident comes months after Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed their third child in September 2025. The couple, who have kept a relatively low public profile as a family unit, have not made a public statement.
For local residents and entertainment industry workers, Sunday’s shooting raises familiar questions about celebrity security and the degree to which high-profile figures can maintain any semblance of private residential life in the Los Angeles area. Beverly Crest is not the kind of neighborhood that draws foot traffic or fan activity — it’s precisely the sort of enclave where people with resources go to avoid exactly this kind of exposure.
The charges Ortiz faces are serious. Attempted murder in California carries a sentence of five, seven, or nine years in state prison under base sentencing guidelines, with significant enhancements possible given the use of a firearm and the presence of children at the scene. Her $10 million bond reflects how seriously prosecutors are treating the allegations.
The LAPD has not said whether it is investigating the attack as targeted or whether additional suspects are being sought. As of Sunday evening, Ortiz remained in custody.
Cases involving firearms discharged at occupied residences — particularly those involving semi-automatic-style weapons and multiple rounds — typically fall under LAPD’s Major Crimes Division for follow-up investigation. Whether federal authorities become involved would depend on factors including whether the weapon was legally obtained and how Ortiz traveled from Florida to California.
The entertainment industry employs tens of thousands of Burbank-area residents and maintains deep ties to adjacent communities across the LA basin. High-profile security incidents affecting prominent figures in that industry tend to ripple through conversations in Media District offices, production meetings, and studio back lots. This one will be no different.
The investigation is ongoing.
